James N. Oakes, Sr. CPA (1926-2005)

Jim, Sr. passed away September 26, 2005 and is missed by all.
James N. Oakes, Sr. graduated from the University of Arkansas in the class of 1954 with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, and was a gold medalist when he took the CPA exam in 1957. He gathered his experience with the national accounting firm of Price-Waterhouse.
James N. Oakes, Sr. moved his family to Guymon in 1962. When he arrived in Guymon, he was the only CPA in the Oklahoma Panhandle. He developed a career providing accounting, auditing and income tax services for the growing feed yard industries. In November of 1991 James N. Oakes, Sr. merged offices with his son James N. Oakes, Jr. to establish the firm of Oakes & Associates. Many of the clients that Oakes & Associates deal with today are still some of those clients.

James N. Oakes, Jr. is the President of the firm. He has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Arkansas. He began his career with Alexander Grant a national accounting firm in Oklahoma City, and later moved home to Guymon to work at his father’s firm. One year later he opened his own accounting practice.
Thirteen years later he merged his firm with his father’s firm, establishing Oakes & Associates. He is registered by the Oklahoma State Board of Accountancy. He is a member of the Oklahoma Accountancy Board and the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Tax planning and compliance for individuals, agriculture, businesses, estate’s and trust’s comprise his main areas of practice. Jim has provided tax and estate planning, consulting and other accounting services to the community for the past 35 years.
Kevin Hook
CPA
Kevin Hooks joined the firm August 28, 2008. He graduated from Washburn University, in Topeka, KS, with a Bachelors degree in accounting. In December of 1990, he passed his CPA exam.
Prior to joining the firm, he worked in Wichita, KS. Kevin has 30 years of experience in the tax and accounting field. He is a member of the Oklahoma Accountancy Board, The Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts.
James D. Oakes

James (Jaime) D. Oakes joined the firm November 1, 2001. He graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelors degree in Journalism, and later studied accounting at the University of Central Oklahoma. In November of 2000, he became a successful candidate in passing the CPA exam the first time.
Prior to joining the firm he worked for Grant Thornton, LLP, a national accounting firm in Oklahoma City. He is a member of the Oklahoma Accountancy Board, the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
